The Adams Arms Standard Picatinny Piston Kit converts a standard AR-15 direct gas impingement system into a cooler and cleaner running, short stroke gas piston system. By installing a piston system on your AR-15, it prevents harmful gas and debris from being blown back in the chamber, resulting in less fouling, reduced wear on the action, and it helps take the punch out of felt recoil.
As an added benefit, the Adams Arms Standard Picatinny Piston Kit dramatically reduces muzzle flash and that super-sonic crack common to AR’s, ensuring optimum performance with night vision devices and suppressors. Three adjustable gas settings can be set for normal fire, firing with a suppressor attached, or a single round fired without cycling. Installation of the kit requires removal of original gas block, but no permanent alterations to barrel or upper receiver. Original system can be reinstalled at any time.
The Adams Arms Standard Picatinny Piston Kit includes:
The Adams Arms Standard Picatinny Piston Kit for a carbine system requires a carbine gas length (7.866" from barrel extension to shoulder), mid-length system requires a mid-gas length (9.866" from barrel extension to shoulder), and the rifle system requires a rifle gas length (13.241" from barrel extension to shoulder). A standard barrel nut or barrel nut with similar measurements is recommended for proper fit and function of the kit. Many aftermarket proprietary barrel nuts do not offer the clearance for the drive rod or proper seating of the spring and bushing.
