Many AR muzzle devices are threaded to 1/2x28 but they are made for 5.56x45mm or .223 Rem. Trying to shoot a 9mm (.354) bullet through a .223 (.223-.224) muzzle device will not end well. When you measure the hole at the end of the muzzle device, it should have a hole for the bullet to exit through that is larger than .354 (9mm). Check it, then check it again.
