Muzzle Devices

A muzzle device threads onto the end of the barrel and changes how the rifle shoots: flash hiders (also called flash suppressors) cut the flash you see in low light, compensators and muzzle brakes redirect gas to reduce muzzle rise and recoil, and suppressor mounts give a suppressor something solid to lock onto. The thread pitch must match your barrel: 1/2x28 is standard for 5.56 and most 22-caliber barrels, and 5/8x24 for .30 caliber such as 300 Blackout and .308.
Filter by type, compare prices below, and add one to your build so MyGunLab can check the thread against your barrel.

Muzzle Devices: common questions
Flash hider, compensator or muzzle brake: which do I need?
A flash hider for low light and home defense, a compensator to keep the muzzle flat for fast follow-up shots, and a brake to cut recoil on bigger calibers. Brakes and compensators are much louder for people beside you.
What thread pitch is my barrel?
Most 5.56 and .223 AR-15 barrels are threaded 1/2x28, and most 300 Blackout and .308 barrels are 5/8x24. Check the barrel's listing or markings before you buy.
Do I need a crush washer or shims?
Yes. A crush washer, peel washer or shims time the device so its ports face the right way, and many devices include them.
