About MyGunLab
Last updated
MyGunLab exists for one reason: to help you build the AR-15 you actually want, and pay less for it.
Anyone who has built an AR knows the routine. A dozen browser tabs, a spreadsheet of part numbers, a forum thread open in the corner asking whether this handguard clears that gas block, and a nagging feeling that the barrel you just ordered was twenty dollars cheaper somewhere else. MyGunLab was made to replace all of that with one page.
How it started
MyGunLab launched in 2017 as a simple idea: a parts picker for AR-15 builders. Pick a part for each slot, see what the whole rifle comes to, and share the list with a friend before you buy. Builders started posting their finished rifles, with photos and the full parts list, and those completed builds became one of the best parts of the site: real rifles, real parts, real prices.
Over the years the site grew a blog of build guides and part comparisons, from gas systems and triggers to dyeing PMAGs, written for people who would rather understand their rifle than just buy one.
What MyGunLab does today
In 2026 we rebuilt MyGunLab from the ground up around the two things builders asked for most: better prices and fewer mistakes.
- Prices from dozens of stores, checked every night. More than 17,000 parts, each showing who sells it, who has it in stock and what it costs today.
- A builder that checks your parts fit. It flags the classic mistakes before you order: a barrel and gas block that don't match, a muzzle device on the wrong thread, a bolt that doesn't suit your caliber.
- Price history and deals. We record price changes, so the deals page shows real drops in what you'd pay, not a markdown from an inflated list price.
- Starter builds and guides. Complete parts lists you can open in the builder and make your own, and guides like our torque specs and thread size chart.
- Open data. Our AR-15 build cost index and ammo cost per round are free for anyone to quote.
How prices work
Every night we update each part's price and stock from the stores we track. Stores are listed by stock and price, so the cheapest store that has the part comes first. A few stores don't report stock, and prices can change at the store after our nightly check, so always confirm the price before you check out.
How MyGunLab makes money
MyGunLab is free to use. When you buy through a store link on the site, the store may pay us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That's what keeps the lights on. You can read the details in our disclosure.
Get in touch
Found a wrong price, a part that doesn't fit the way we say, or a store we should add? We read every message: contact us. And when your build is done, save it and add photos so it can join the completed builds.
