A drop-in trigger comes as one self-contained unit: the hammer, trigger, disconnector and springs sit in a housing that drops into the lower and is held by the standard two pins. There are no loose springs to fight, the pull weight is set at the factory (often 3 to 4.5 pounds), and it's the easiest trigger upgrade you can make. Most use the small .154-inch pins of a standard AR-15 lower; check whether a trigger is single- or two-stage, and that it's made for your lower (AR-15 or AR-10).
